THE BRITISH OPEN
CRABBING
CHAMPIONSHIP
~~~
WALBERSWICK
|
 |
The
21st Championship held on 12th August 2001.
The
rain, which had fallen all day, stopped just in time for the
start of the 21st World Open Crabbing Championship at Walberswick.
Over 500 entrants took their places by the river.
Winners
Gold - James Buncombe(left)
Silver - Rebecca
Woolnough (right)
Bronze - Briony Harris
The winning crab weighed in at just 4 ounces. (The record,
set in 1981, stands at 7.25 ounces so this year's winner
was a shade disappointing)
The weather
was not kind but everyone was well equipped
|
The only yellow thing to be glimpsed in the sky was Search
& Rescue Helicopter on an exercise!
|
|
This young
lady was determined to get stuck in (almost oper her wellies!)
|
This crab
was caught by a family from Worlingham but did not make it
to the final weigh in.
|
|
Still
no sunshine but this young crabber was taking it very seriously
All eyes
are on the scales as Brian Tibbles weighs an entry
